Building an Underground Food Storage in My Big Log Home in the Forest
Building an underground food storage in my big home is a difficult project, but I'm glad I started building it now.
This year I planted a lot of vegetables and fruits in my garden that will need to be stored somewhere. The temperature outside is +28-32 degrees Celsius, which is very hot for our climate. Therefore, storing food underground is the best solution for me, because to use the refrigerator you need a constant power supply, which I don’t have yet. When I dug a hole 2 meters deep, water began to flow, which forced me to stop digging and start making a strong and reliable foundation. Due to the fact that I have a high groundwater level, I had to give a lot of waterproofing. The next stage of construction will be the walls and roof of the Underground Food Storage. Переглядів 109 тис.14 днів тому
After a short winter with less snow than normal, I'm now dealing with a hot, dry summer, that is making it difficult to work in the woods and grow food in my garden. Therefore, in order to hide from the hot sun, the decision was made to make a large roof to facilitate the building of my log cabin. This roof will also protect me from the rain when I dig a large hole to make a basement for cold f...

For the first row of walls, I cut a 29-foot pine log in half to make two sill ...

I've been waiting for this moment all year, and finally I can take a steam bath in my forest sauna for the first time. I need to do a few more things to consider the sauna completely finished, including the shower room, sink and installing a shower head with pump. The sauna heats up quickly and reaches 80 degrees Celsius without too much wood, and the stone retains heat throughout the day. Wint...

Hello, friends. In this video, I finished making my front door, I installed a lock and a handle, now I don’t have to worry that a wolf or a bear will come to visit me at night when I’m sleeping )) This year the winter is really harsh, more than 50 cm of snow fell. I have to walk more than 5 km to my cabin through snow drifts with my dog "Joy". It's very tiring so I'm thinking about buying a sno...

The first frost of the season has arrived, so I'm focusing on doors in this video. I design and make heavy doors from pine and alder. I made a 4" thick wooden frame and added Styrofoam inside, this will help keep the heat inside the log house much more effective. The temperature outside sometimes dropped to -5 degrees Celsius, so I had to work inside the log cabin. Making the herringbone patter...

Wasn't sure whether you were going to eat that humongous Hamburger, or climb it. What a feast. I am in awe of your talents, focused attention to detail and the job in hand. Very Buddhist, the only moment that counts is the one you are in. Have you been directly affected by the War? Are your parents safe?

rebar should have some clearence from the tar liner as if water builds up in that area it will corrode the rebar. Also you should reinforce those walls, that seems like soft clay soil with some arenite, that is not a stable soil as water saturates the porous arenite area but cant be absorbed by the clay leading o increased pressure on the walls. Ideally you should make a double rebar structure and fill it with concrete leaving a gap to add tar linning on the outside. Fill that gap later with concrete or agregate.

I have a question, What the purpose of building a house of this scale without power tools? is it because you don't have any when you started this project or was it just to show the viewers that all things are possible because I am sure by now we all know "All things are possible" and power tools makes the build so much easier and quicker!!!!
